Face Haus launched in Los Angeles as a modern concept for walk-in spa-grade facials with a boutique design aesthetic and accessible prices. Located across California, New York and Texas, the walk-in facial company has gradually expanded since its inception in 2013, and recently opened two new LA retail outlets designed by CHA:COL. Our design approach encouraged the spatial design of the store to keep an open floor plan, with the ‘Front of Haus’ area designed for walk-in consultations and retail. The rear more private treatment zone is separated physically by a low wall that doubles as a waiting area bench and POS station. A central canopy orients the customer from front to back and works in alignment with the 8 treatment stations (4 on each side). The ‘back of Haus’ prep and storage area is housed behind the canopy wall that cascades down as an extension of the ceiling.
The first store is located close to downtown Los Angeles on a university campus where it
services both students and professionals. The front waiting and retail area has 3 main design components :
a custom mint green ‘Haus’ shaped storage shelf that plays on the brand’s color and identity,
a finish ply linear communal table equipped with power for guests and aestheticians for quick consultations and
a built-in upholstered bench that offers guests seating while also acting as a divider from the treatment area beyond.
The central canopy, suspended above the spa stations is clad in custom wallpaper art offering guests a calming visual to focus their eyes on. The color theme throughout the whole store celebrates the brand’s signature mint green shade. Additionally, in the retail area, hanging custom plywood swing chairs suspended by ropes also add to the store’s whimsical design.
